Liminality as Curatorial Condition

Der Vortrag begreift Liminalität als zentrale Bedingung einer kuratorischen Praxis, die Übergangsräume zwischen Ökologie, Identität und Kultur erschließt. Ausgehend von Projekten in Berlin, Busan und Seoul zeigt Keumhwa Kim, wie liminale Räume zu kuratorischen Dispositiven werden, in denen neue Konstellationen von Raum, Körper und Material in produktiven Reibungen sichtbar und erfahrbar werden. Im Zentrum steht die Frage, wie das Kuratorische an diesen Schwellen bestehende Ordnungen verschiebt und neue Möglichkeiten des Wissens und der Begegnung eröffnet.

This lecture approaches liminality as a central condition of curatorial practice, opening up transitional spaces between ecology, identity, and culture. Drawing on projects in Berlin, Busan, and Seoul, Keumhwa Kim demonstrates how liminal spaces become curatorial dispositifs in which new constellations of space, body, and material emerge through productive frictions and become perceptible and experiential. At its core, the lecture asks how the curatorial, operating at these thresholds, can shift and destabilize existing orders while opening up new possibilities for knowledge, perception, and encounter.
