Wir freuen uns auf David Sherry aus Nordirland, der erste Künstler in unser Performance-Reihe „The Nature of Action“. Aufgewachsen im Grenzgebiet zwischen Nordirland und der Republik Irland war für David Sherry und seine Familie die Grenze allgegenwärtig. Angesichts des Brexits und der Gefahr einer neuen harten Grenze zwischen Nordirland und der Republik Irland stellt David Sherry auf dem „Dritten Land“ eine Performance zu seinen Grenzerfahrungen vor. Sie besteht aus Stand-Up-Comedy, Ideen, Aktionen und Erzählungen.
Die Arbeiten von David Sherry (geboren 1974, in Nordirland, lebt und arbeitet in Glasgow) umfassen Zeichnungen, Performances, Videos, Malerei, Photographie und Sound Installationen. Er interessiert sich für die großen und kleinen Erzählungen aus seinem Alltag: wie Glück, Arbeit, Respekt. Sie verarbeitet er zu Live-Performances, die seit zwanzig Jahren ein zentraler Bestandteil seiner künstlerischen Praxis sind.
Sherry nutzt die Performance als Instrument für seine künstlerische Alltagserforschung. In seinem „Plays“ versucht er gesellschaftliche Normen aus Small Talks oder Etiketten aufzudecken und zu erhellen. Die Ergebnisse sind oft humorvoll, absurd und surreal. Durch seine „spielerische“ Art des Performens wird das Gewöhnliche zu einer kreativen Quelle. Seine letzten Arbeiten waren bei First Site, Colchester, dem Jose Campos Contemporary Arts Centre Azores und dem Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art 2018 zu sehen.
In diesem Sommer lädt „Das Dritte Land“ der Künstler Seok Hyun Han und Seung Hwoe Kim Künstlerinnen und Künstler zur Performances, Lesungen und Lecuture-Performances ein – zu den Themen: Grenze und Utopie, Kunst und Politik. Han und Kim haben mit ihrem „Dritten Land“ eine Landschaft geschaffen, in der die Natur geografische und ideologische Grenzen aufzulösen scheint. Ihr Künstlergarten verwandelt sich in den Perfomances der Reihe „The Nature of Action“ in eine Bühne, auf der weltweite Grenz-Erfahrungen verhandelt werden.

We are pleased to introduce David Sherry from Northern Ireland, the first artist in our performance series "The Nature of Action". Grown up in the border area between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the border was omnipresent for David Sherry and his family. Considering the Brexit and the danger of a new hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, David Sherry presents a performance on his border experiences at "Das Dritte Land". It features a stand-up comedy based on ideas, actions and stories.
The works of David Sherry (born 1974 in Northern Ireland, lives and works in Glasgow) include drawings, performances, videos, painting, photography and sound installations. He is interested in the stories from his everyday life: like happiness, work, respect, a living, and transforms them into live performances, which have been a main part of his artistic practice for the past twenty years.
Sherry uses performance not only as a means of expression but also a process of his everyday artistic research. In his "Plays" he tries to reveal and uncover social norms and the public face of small talks or etiquette.The results are often humorous, absurd and surreal. Through his "play”, the ordinary becomes a creative source. His most recent works have been shown at First Site, Colchester, the Jose Campos Contemporary Arts Centre Azores and the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art 2018.
This summer "Das Dritte Land" by Seok Hyun Han and Seung Hwoe Kim invites artists to performances, readings and sound performances - with the themes: Border and utopia, art and politics. With the " Das Dritte Land", Han and Kim have created a landscape in which nature appears to dissolve geographical and ideological boundaries. With the series of performances "The Nature of Action", “Das Dritte Land” is to be transformed into a stage on which experiences of worldwide borders are reflected and discussed.
